The group that took over Liverpool a little over a week ago, the New England Sports Ventures (NESV) are looking forward to their first home game. Liverpool meet Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League today and NESV officials will be in attendance.

One man who will miss out however is NESV owner John W Henry, who played a crucial and prominent role in the negotiations to buy the club from American pair Tom Hicks and George Gillett. Henry is unable to travel to Anfield for the match as he is ill at home in the US. He did comment on the occasion though:

"Sunday promises to be a special day at Anfield in more ways than one. I’ll be watching the game from home and although I have only been here for a few days, I already miss Anfield", said Henry to the club’s official site. "We are hard at work setting a course for the future, including the search for a new chief executive officer."

NESV will be represented by chairman Tom Werner and new Liverpool board members David Ginsberg and Michael Gordon.
