Karim Benzema missed the chance to impress Jose Mourinho last night as Real Madrid could only draw 0-0 away to Real Murcia in the Copa del Rey. The Portuguese had stated that the French striker would get an opportunity against the Segunda Division B side to make his mark, but Benzema came up short.

The Spanish press quickly rounded on the former Lyon player, saying his character was "apathetic and lazy". Benzema is struggling to make an impression at Los Blancos and Mourinho is known to be thinking very carefully about his future at the club.

Benzema should be available for the right price in January and if he does not exit Real in the winter transfer window then the odds are still against him starting the 2011/12 campaign with the Spanish giants. There is expected to be no shortage of bidders however, with Manchester United, Juventus and even former club Lyon all possible destinations.
