Claude Puel has revealed that he has no intention of throwing in the towel with Lyon. The Ligue 1 side have endured a miserable start to the season, despite again spending heavily in the summer, and currently sit in 14th place in the league. And the pressure has been building on Puel.

"I’ve never thought about leaving. The problems must be solved, a coaching career is never easy", the Lyon boss told RMC

Puel also poured cold water on suggestions he has a poor relationship with the players and that they will not go the extra mile to save his job.

"My group of players are here to save the club, not to save my position. I’ve never asked any players to go in to the trenches for me. There are some fans who want my dismissal, but I hope to change their mind."

Lyon face a crunch game this weekend when they host Sochaux off the back of having only managed to draw at lowly Arles.
