It has been revealed by MilanNews that Slovak schemer Marek Hamsik could have ended up at AC Milan when he moved from Brescia in 2007, but the Rossoneri preferred to swoop for Alexandre Pato.

Hamsik was available to head to Milan for €8M, but that was a price the Serie A giants felt too steep for the Slovakian and they decided to pass on the deal. The player eventually moved to Napoli for just €5.5M.

Strangely, despite refusing to pay €8M for Hamsik, Milan then moved quickly to conclude a €22M deal for Alexandre Pato.
