Bayern Munich have been given a boost with the news that full back Philipp Lahm wishes to extend his contract at the Allianz Arena. The German international is a product of Bayern’s youth academy and, apart from a loan stint at Stuttgart, has turned out for the Munich club ever since.

"I see no reason to leave the club", said Lahm when questioned on his future. The 26-year-old did confirm however that negotiations about a new deal are not currently under way. "There are currently no negotiations with the leaders [of the club], we still have time."

Had Lahm wished to leave Bayern there would have been no shortage of takers. The efficient full back is highly rated across Europe and would be welcomed with open arms by several sides in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A. However, the odds are Lahm will spend his entire career at the Allianz Arena.
