Barcelona’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has confirmed that the Camp Nou giants are interested in Ibrahim Afellay, but fears that another European giant made have made more progress towards sealing the deal.
The PSV Eindhoven attacking midfielder sees his contract at the Philips Stadion run out next summer and has already stated his desire to try a new challenge abroad. Indeed, it was even reported that discussions with Barcelona are under way.
"He is an excellent player, and among other things [will be] out of contract", Zubizarreta told ONA FM. "But, it seems there is already another high-level club after him."
Afellay could well move in the January transfer window, with PSV keen to realise at least some value from the player.
