Lazio’s highly rated forward Mauro Zarate has stated that he is happy at the Rome club. There had been suggestions that Zarate would welcome a move back to his native Argentina, but the 23-year-old appears to have dismissed those concerns.

"Back to Argentina? In football you cannot make plans", Zarate told Corriere dello Sport. "In Argentina I had a difficult time and now it’s hard to go back. In Rome I am very well, I’m with my girlfriend and my friends."

Zarate has been considered a huge success since Lazio signed him from Al-Saad in 2009, and the Argentine is so highly prized by the Serie A side that they have even inserted a buy-out clause of €60M in his contract.
