Former Marseille striker Mamadou Niang has said that he still has faith in Didier Deschamps’ side to do well in this season’s Ligue 1. The defending champions went down 2-1 at Paris Saint-Germain last night in a result which left them in fourth spot, three points behind leaders Brest.

However, Niang, who was in the crowd in Paris, did not see too much that Marseille should be concerned about and the fact they did not take all their chances is not a worry.

"Their passing was difficult, the players rushed too much, there was not enough movement in the last twenty metres", said Niang to Canal +.

"This is not because OM have lost or need questioning. Despite the loss, we could see that Marseille played well. I trust in Marseille and their group."
