Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has admitted that his side "didn’t deserve to win the game", after drawing 1-1 away to Wigan last night. The Reds went into the game off the back of a fine 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Anfield, but could not conjure up the same magical display to take what would have been a valuable three points.

"We looked tired today and I don’t think our passing was anywhere near as good as we expected it to be", said Hodgson. "We had a bright start and a bright finish, but for long periods in between we weren’t anywhere near where I would expect us to be. I think we can be more than happy with the point we got from the game."

And Liverpool owed their point to a very much in-form Fernando Torres, who struck in the seventh minute. The Spaniard however, saw his effort cancelled out through a Hugo Rodallega leveller in the second half. The result leaves Liverpool in 9th, five points off the top four, while Wigan remain in the relegation zone, in 18th with eleven points.
