German giants Bayern Munich are believed to be preparing to bid for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Niko Kranjcar in January. The Croatian has caught the eye of Bayern coach Louis van Gaal according to L’Equipe, and an offer in the winter transfer window is expected to be forthcoming.

Kranjcar has not established himself as a regular at White Hart Lane and Van Gaal thinks that the 26-year-old, who arrived at Spurs from Portsmouth last year, could well be available for the right price. Furthermore, Van Gaal also believes the Croatian would be open to a switch to the Allianz Arena.

The Croatian international is under contract at White Hart Lane until 2013, but has made only sporadic appearances for Spurs, and Bayern Munich believe he could help them mount a challenge for the Bundesliga in the second half of the season after a poor showing so far.

Harry Redknapp’s determination to keep hold of Kranjcar is sure to be tested when the Germans come calling in January.
