AC Milan won the Milan derby against Inter last night to extend their lead over their bitter rivals. And the man of the moment was none other than former Inter star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swede slotted home a penalty in just the sixth minute of the game and despite Milan being reduced to ten men midway through the second half after Ignazio Abate was sent off, managed to see out the match and claim a precious three points.

"The team played great, largely in the second half when we had one player less", said Ibrahimovic to Sky Sports after the whistle blew. "We had a great game heart. The first twenty minutes we created big moments, we got a goal and it could have been more. The team is doing well."

The win allows Milan to reclaim the leadership of Serie A, dislodging Lazio who had briefly hit top spot before the evening derby. Perhaps more importantly though, the win means Milan’s lead over Inter is now six points.
