Following reports that Juventus are hoping to complete a deal for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in January, rival Serie A giants Inter are taking an interest in the Frenchman too. Despite a series of better displays from Benzema when called upon by Jose Mourinho, the striker is still expected to be allowed to leave the Bernabeu in January for as little as €16M.

Inter boss Rafael Benitez is desperate for the club to strengthen in the winter transfer window and president Massimo Moratti has suggested he will back the Spaniard. Moratti is also thought to see Benzema as a good investment, with the forward still young and retaining a sizeable sell-on value.

Juventus will fight Inter every step of the way for Benzema though, keen themselves to bolster their strikeforce and reclaim a spot in the Champions League for next season. Real Madrid for their part will see the interest of two Serie A clubs as a way to drive up Benzema’s price and recoup as much of the €35M they paid Lyon last year as possible.
