Gerard Houllier has told Tottenham Hotspur to forget about any chance of signing Ashley Young. The Aston Villa star has been linked with an £18M move to Spurs in recent days, with Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp thought to be a huge fan of the winger. However, Houllier is certain that Young is going nowhere.

"I can safely say that Redknapp can forget about Young", said Houllier. "In January he will not go anywhere, in any way whatsoever."

Young cost Villa £9.6M when he was bought from Watford in 2007 and has seen his reputation head ever upwards following a number of fine displays for the Midlands club. Houllier is known to consider Young as vital to the club’s future and any chance of success. Therefore he will not easily part with the 25-year-old.
