Georgios Samaras is edging towards the exit door at Celtic and is keen to experience a new challenge. The Greek striker, who joined the Scottish giants in 2008 from Manchester City, is thought to believe the time is right to move on from Parkhead.

Two sides who took an interest in the Greek in the summer, Lazio and Palermo, are reportedly ready to rekindle their interest in Samaras. Lazio especially, should they miss out on Manchester City’s out-of-favour striker Roque Santa Cruz, could push the player to the top of their list.

Also believed to be watching developments closely are Liverpool. Manager Roy Hodgson is ready to strengthen his attack in the winter transfer window, and Samaras could prove a relatively inexpensive addition.
