Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has hailed Mario Balotelli and Adam Johnson in the wake of the club’s 3-1 Europa League win over Austrian side Salzburg last night.

Two goals from Balotelli (in the 18th and 65th minutes) and one from Johnson (in the 78th minute), helped City stay on top of their group, with 10 points from five games and ensured qualification for the next phase. But it was the performances of his two young stars that Mancini appeared most concerned about, admitting they excited him and he sees them getting better.

"Mario can play better than that", warned the Italian to his club’s official site. "I am delighted with the goals he scored, but he can play better."

Mancini then said the duo can improve further and he believes "Adam and Mario could become two of the most exciting players in the world if they think of the pitch and sustain their form. They must work all the time. The goals they scored against Salzburg were really good goals, but that match is gone now and they must carry on working and improving as we are as a team."
