According to reports from Italy, Juventus have been scouting Bayer Leverkusen’s Swiss midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta. The 25-year-old has emerged as a serious target for the Serie A giants in the January transfer window as they seek to give their squad a boost.

The Old Lady have reportedly been scouting Barnetta for the past two months and have been delighted with what they have seen. Juventus are also aware that the player’s contract with his Bundesliga side expires in 2012, and the Swiss star has so far failed to ink a new deal at the BayArena.

Barnetta has been at Leverkusen since 2004, having made the move from Swiss side St. Gallen. It may well be that after six years in Germany, Barnetta would welcome a switch to Serie A.
