Despite scoring a hat-trick against Auxerre in the Champions League in midweek, Jose Mourinho has revealed that Karim Benzema is not sure of starting this evening’s game against Real Zaragoza. Whether the Portuguese was trying to mislead his opponents, or just keep Benzema on his toes, is not known.
"I still do not know if he will be in the starting line-up", said Mourinho at the pre-match press conference, adding, "because if things do not go well, I have no alternative on the bench."
The comments do confirm further still that Mourinho is looking to add another striker to his squad following the injury picked up by Gonzalo Higuain recently. The Argentina star will miss two months and Real Madrid have been linked with several forwards over the past few weeks. Mourinho looks certain to sign at least one in January.
