Real Madrid have been handed a boost with the news that Kaka is due to return in January. The Brazilian injured his left knee in August and has been confined to the sidelines ever since, much to the disappointment of coach Jose Mourinho, who has expressed his desire to work with the midfielder and return him to the peak of his form.

And with Kaka aiming for a January return, Mourinho could have the player at his disposal sooner rather than later. The Brazilian himself is desperate to return.

"I so want to play", explained Kaka to Marca. "If all goes well, I hope to do so after Christmas."

The return of a fit Kaka will give Real Madrid a real lift coming into the business end of the season as they aim to overhaul Barcelona in La Liga and also push for the Champions League.
