It has been suggested that Ruud van Nistelrooy could leave Bundesliga side Hamburg in the January transfer window. The Dutchman has struggled to hit the goalscoring heights that were expected of him in Germany and talk is now growing of an exit for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker.

One destination suggested is Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven, where Van Nistelrooy turned out before swapping the Philips Stadion for Old Trafford. Van Nistelrooy enjoyed a prolific record in front of goal with PSV and the club would appear to be the perfect place to wind down his career.

The striker is out of contract with Hamburg at the end of the season, but it has been suggested that some sort of deal could be done with PSV. It may even well be that Hamburg striker Marcus Berg, who is on loan with the Dutch club, cuts short his Eredivisie adventure to return to Germany and allow Van Nistelrooy to head home.
