According to reports in the Russian press, Zenit St. Petersburg have identified Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard as a potential transfer target. Having won this year’s Russian league title, Luciano Spalletti’s side are looking to strengthen for a real push in next season’s Champions League.
However, while Zenit are reported as being prepared to test the waters for Lampard, there would look to be little possibility the player will be prepared to move from London to St. Petersburg, unless it is in search of a big-money final pay day.
Nevertheless, Zenit are expected to sound Chelsea out over the 32-year-old’s availability – though it would come as a huge shock if The Blues were prepared to part with Lampard, and an even bigger one should the England man choose to head to Russia.
