Blackburn Rovers are hoping to muscle in front of Bayern Munich and Fulham for CFR Cluj’s highly rated striker Lacina Traore. The Ivory Coast hitman turned heads in the Champions League group stage, despite his Romanian side finishing bottom behind Basel, Roma and Bayern Munich.

Traore’s performances were enough for Bayern Munich to make enquiries about the striker’s availability when the two clubs met in Romania in November, with Cluj’s president admitting telling the German side that he might deal for the right price.

That price was thought to be around €6M, but there are now suggestions €4M may be enough to snap up the highly rated 20-year-old. Blackburn’s new owners, the Indian poultry firm Venky’s, are believed to be keen to make a splash in January and the capture of Traore ahead of the German giants would indeed be a real coup.
