Amidst growing talk of a return to the Premier League for David Beckham, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he would have no hesitation in signing the Los Angeles Galaxy man. However, Wenger added that such a move is unlikely, as he feels the Gunners don’t need another wide midfielder.

"Of course I would consider signing Beckham", said Wenger, "but it’s an area where we do not need players. We have [Theo] Walcott, [Samir] Nasri, [Tomas] Rosicky, [Andrei] Arshavin, [Carlos] Vela and [Emmauel] Eboue who can play on the flanks."

Wenger confirmed though that he rates Beckham highly and thinks the former England captain is the ideal professional.

"I love David Beckham and when he was here [training] he was a fantastic example on the professional side. He was the first in and the last out. But I cannot sign anybody in January in the department where he plays."
