Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea has played down talk of a move to Manchester United, insisting he is happy with his situation in the Spanish capital.

The 20-year-old shot-stopper has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford as a replacement for Edwin van der Sar, who will hang up his boots at the end of the season, but Atletico remain keen to hang on to their young talent.

"I am very happy here", said De Gea when asked about his future plans. "When things go well, there is no need to change."

De Gea has progressed through Spain’s Under-17, 19, 20 and 21 teams and was also included in the country’s provisional squad for last summer’s World Cup. Highly rated and quickly improving, De Gea won the Europa League last season with Atletico, along with this season’s UEFA Super Cup.
