Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach have continued to bolster their squad ahead of the second half of the German season. Gladbach have swooped on Spartak Moscow to secure the signature of 30-year-old Austrian defender Martin Stranzl.

Stranzl was under contract with Spartak for just six more months, and the Russians were happy to let him head to Gladbach to help in the club’s fight against the drop – currently bottom of the Bundesliga, Gladbach have much work to do to avoid playing in the 2.Bundesliga next season.

The Austrian is experience in German football, having previously played for 1860 Munich and VfB Stuttgart.
