Los Angeles Galaxy have confirmed the arrival of Frankie Hejduk to the club on a one-year contract. The 36-year-old, who can play as a wing-back, or midfielder, is vastly experienced and the Galaxy hope will bolster their options ahead of the 2011 MLS campaign.

The former Bayer Leverkusen player has appeared in two World Cups for the United States and has bagged over 85 caps doing so. He was also part of the MLS’ very first player draft in 1996 and has watched the league grow ever since.

Hejduk turned out for Columbus Crew last season and made over 140 appearances for the Crew since joining in 2003. He has also won the MLS Cup once, in 2008 and the Galaxy will hope his winning mentality can rub off on the rest of the squad.
