Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv are moving closer to the capture of Jonathan Cristaldo, a highly rated young Argentine striker. The 21-year-old has come to the attention of Metalist, who are striving to break the Shakhtar-Dynamo duopoly of Ukrainian football, and feel the player could aid their push in the second half of the season.

Cristaldo’s club, Velez Sarsfield, have agreed to sell the striker to Metalist for some €5M, according to reports from Argentina, and only a few minor details remain to be ironed out before the player travels to the Ukraine.

The 21-year-old struggled with injury in 2010, which restricted his appearances for Velez Sarsfield in the opening Argentine league tournament and Copa Libertadores. Cristaldo did however get back amongst the goals in the second half of the year, playing in the Copa Sudamericana and scoring once.
