Dutch giants Ajax have confirmed that caretaker manager Frank de Boer will take the role on a permanent basis, having signed a contract until 2014. The former Holland defender had stepped into the breach at the Amsterdam club to replace Martin Jol, who resigned last month.

Ajax officials have been impressed with the way De Boer has handled bossing the first team and believe that they need look no further for the coach to take them back to the Eredivisie title.

The shake-up in Ajax’s coaching structure has also seen former Arsenal striker Dennis Bergkamp promoted to the position of youth team manager which was left vacant following De Boer’s move to coach the senior side.
