Hoffenheim are interested in Basel defender David Abraham as they seek to boost their defence ahead of the start of the second half of the Bundesliga season.

The Argentine defender has impressed with the Swiss giants this season, and joined the St. Jakob Park outfit in 2008. Since that time he has helped Basel to win the Swiss Super League, as well as picking up vital experience in the Champions League.

Abraham’s contract expires in 2012 and a number of Italian sides have also been taking a close interest in his services, including: Juventus, Sampdoria, Udinese and Lazio.

The defender would likely cost Hoffenheim around €2M.
