Zenit St. Petersburg boss Luciano Spalletti could well be being lined up to become the next Russia coach according to reports from Sportlife.ru.

Spalletti has impressed the domestic audience with his handling of Zenit and led them to 2010’s Russian Premier League title. The Italian also won plaudits for his decision to remain true to his contract with the Russian club and snub interest from Internazionale last month.

Current Russia coach Dick Advocaat is expected to move on after Euro 2012, opening the door for Spalletti to be offered the job of national team boss. While that is still some 18 months away, the Italian may well be sounded out on the proposal sooner rather than later.
