Real Madrid may be about to launch a bid to sign Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan until the end of the season according to reports from Spain.

Los Blancos President Florentino Perez has so far remained unmoved by pleas from coach Jose Mourinho to add another striker to the club’s squad following the news that Gonzalo Higuain will most likely miss the rest of the campaign; Perez believes that French forward Karim Benzema should be given the responsibility of replacing the Argentine.

Now however, it appears that sporting director Jorge Valdano has joined the push for a striker, singling out Adebayor, who could arrive on loan until the end of the season. To this end, there were contacts between City and Real yesterday to discuss the Togo forward. With Perez keen on signing Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente in the summer though, the move for Adebayor would be a loan only deal.
