Newly crowned Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi has said he cannot imagine a Barcelona side without Josep Guardiola in the dugout and he believes the Catalan supremo will renew his contract at the Camp Nou.
Guardiola is in demand and has been spoken of as a possible contender for the job of Chelsea manager, should a vacancy arise, while Inter are also keen on the former midfielder. But Messi cannot imagine that he will go.
"The truth is that I cannot imagine a club without Pep. It’s hard to imagine a Barcelona without him and I would not know how to do it", said Messi.
Asked whether he believes Guardiola will renew his contract with the Blaugrana, Messi said he thinks the coach will "renew when he wants", but he has asked him to "renew and stay."
