Celtic have chosen not to keep former Juventus midfielder Olivier Kapo at the club and have terminated the 30-year-old’s contract.

Kapo was released last summer by English Premier League outfit Wigan Athletic and arrived at the Scottish club in November. Manager Neil Lennon chose to hand Kapo just two appearances in the green and white shirt and feels that the player did not do enough to justify a longer deal with the Glasgow giants.

"He signed a contract which allowed us to terminate on 10th January", Lennon explained to the club’s official site.

"Celtic took this option to terminate as we felt he had not done enough to justify a longer-term contract. We were willing to look at an extension to this short-term contract with Olivier. However, he was not willing to accept these terms."

Kapo is now expected to head to France in search of a new club.
