Following their decision to reject a €12M bid from Wolfsburg for Papiss Cisse, Freiburg have stated that they do not want to sell the striker in the current January transfer window.

Cisse only joined Freiburg a year ago, but in that time has established himself as one of the most potent forwards in the Bundesliga. This season especially the Senegal man has been a big part of his side’s comfortable campaign, well away from relegation and sitting in seventh in the  league.

Wolfsburg, desperate for a replacement for the now departed Edin Dzeko, had hoped a €12M bid would be enough to snatch Cisse, but it wasn’t and even suggestions that €15M would do the trick have been dashed.

"Papiss Demba Cisse is definitely staying here, there is no doubt about that. That can be taken for granted", said Freiburg’s general maanger Dirk Dufner.
