Juventus have snapped up defender Andrea Barzagli from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg to strengthen their backline. The 29-year-old’s contract was running out at the German side and a move in the current transfer window was in everyone’s best interests.

The centre back has signed a three and a half year contract with the Old Lady and will look forward to getting stuck into the second half of the Serie A season.

Barzagli has vast experience in Italy’s top flight, having turned out for Palermo until 2008, when he decided to snub a proposed move to Fiorentina in order to head to Germany and sign for Wolfsburg. The defender has 25 caps for the Azzurri, his latest coming in 2008.
