Manchester United’s veteran midfielder Paul Scholes has admitted that he is unsure over whether he will continue playing beyond the end of the current season.

The 36-year-old returned from injury in United’s 3-2 win at Blackpool on Tuesday night, but cast doubt over whether he will play again next season.

"I don’t know what I’m doing next year", said the United legend when questioned about his future. "I just want to concentrate on getting back playing for now."

And Scholes dismissed the impact of two months out of action with a groin injury, explaining it was nice to have some time off over the hectic festive period.

"I like to have a week or two off for Christmas. This one just stretched out for a big longer."
