Bundesliga league leaders Borussia Dortmund have suffered a blow with the news that Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa will miss the rest of the season through injury.
Kagawa is currently at the 2011 Asian Cup in Qatar, where his Japan side have reached the final and will meet Australia tomorrow, but the Dortmund man will not be involved, having picked up an injury to his right foot in the semi-final battle against South Korea.
And now Kagawa’s German club have confirmed that the injury means the season is over for their Japanese star.
"Surgery is necessary and Shinji will play next season", said a statement released by Dortmund.
