Sulley Muntari has completed his long awaited move to Sunderland from Inter, but only at first on loan. It had been speculated that the Ghana midfielder would join Steve Bruce’s Premier League outfit on a permanent deal, but the move has been confirmed as a six-month loan instead.

Inter paid €16M for Muntari in 2008 and the former Portsmouth midfielder blossomed under Jose Mourinho. Recently though Muntari has struggled for playing time at the San Siro, leading him closer and closer to the exit door. At the beginning of January, Inter technical director Marco Branca confirmed the midfielder could leave and Sunderland were always at the front of the queue.

"Sulley is a fabulous purchase", said Bruce.

"When there is an opportunity to have a player like him you have to take it. He knows the Premier League."
