Unable to sign Nicola Legrottaglie due to the veteran Italian defender’s decision to swap Juventus for AC Milan, Scottish giants Celtic are edging towards a move for Stoke City’s Abdoulaye Faye.

The Senegal man sees his contract with The Potters come to an end in the summer and has had struggled to cement a regular spot in the Stoke starting eleven this season. It is a situation Celtic boss Neil Lennon noted and the Northern Irishman quickly turned to Faye after missing out on Legrottaglie.

Stoke may indeed be willing to cash in on Faye rather than risk losing him for free at the end of the season, while a move to the Scottish giants would also surely appeal to the former Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers man.
