Interest in Saint-Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi is hotting up with Roma the latest side linked with the 23-year-old.

Matuidi has improved rapidly over the last two seasons and can operate as a tough-tackling midfielder, or a deep-lying playmaker. He was snapped up from Troyes in 2007 and has represented France at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 levels, before winning his first senior cap last year in a Euro 2012 qualifier against Bosnia.

Saint-Etienne are well aware their prospect is attracting attention as Fiorentina and Liverpool have already been linked with a move for the player. Matuidi attended the prestigious Clairefontaine academy as a youngster, the breeding ground for most of France’s greatest talents in recent times.
