Arsenal and Bayern Munich target Lacina Traore has been sold by his Romanian club CFR Cluj, with his destination coming as something of a surprise.

The Ivory Coast hitman, who has been likened to Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor at points throughout his fledgling career, has joined Russian Premier League outfit Kuban Krasnodar.

Traore impressed clubs across Europe with his displays in this season’s Champions League group stage, with Arsenal mooted to be tracking the player, while Cluj President Iuliu Muresan admitted discussing the 20-year-old with Bayern Munich who inquired about his status.

Yet neither Arsenal nor Bayern pushed through a deal in the January window, leaving Napoli and Udinese as the most interested parties.

Kuban Krasnodar have shelled out €5M for Traore and will hope he can help them to a respectable finish in the Russian top flight.
