Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen has admitted that he is ready to leave the Dutch club and fully aware of concrete interest from AC Milan and Arsenal.

The Belgian defender is expected to quit the Amsterdam ArenA in the summer as he looks to move on to a bigger club and challenge, and now the race is hotting up for the 23-year-old’s signature. However, Vertonghen has put Arsenal and Milan at the top of his list.

"I’ll be honest, I’m glad that AC Milan and Arsenal want me", the Belgian told Het Nieuwsblad before going on to admit that a move to either would be one he could simply not refuse, while expressing a slight preference for the Rossoneri.

"This is the right time to leave Ajax. I feel ready for a big club. I like the Premier League, but you can’t say no when a club like Milan knock on the door."

Under contract with Ajax until 2013, the Dutch club are set to demand a large fee from any club interested in buying their defensive star.
