Having noted Diego’s troubles in Germany with Wolfsburg, Serie A side Lazio are plotting a summer swoop for the Brazilian. The playmaker moved back to the Bundesliga last summer from Juventus, with the Wolves paying the Turin side some €15M for his services.

Diego though has failed to recapture the form he showed for Werder Bremen in a previous spell in Germany and Wolfsburg’s thoroughly miserable season looks set to see them miss out on European football – the Volkswagen Arena club even face a fight to stave off the threat of relegation.

All this has alerted Lazio to Diego’s possible availability and the Rome outfit are preparing to offer Wolfsburg €12M to bring the former Juventus schemer back to Italy.
