Hamburg striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has explained that his failed January move to Real Madrid is now behind him and he is focusing on his Bundesliga side.

Van Nistelrooy was the subject of interest from Los Blancos last month, and the Dutchman desperately wanted to answer the Spanish club’s striking SOS. In the end though, Hamburg blocked the move and Real Madrid signed Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City.

"By June I will be 100% focused on Hamburg", explained Van Nistelrooy. "There was no harm meant to the club from Real, but now I’m happy, it is behind me."

Interest in the 34-year-old does not look set to go away however, as a number of Turkish sides, chief amongst them Besiktas, are rumoured to be plotting a move for the striker.
