Barcelona have denied interest in Santos’ highly rated youngster Neymar. The Catalan giants have long been linked with a swoop for the forward, with reports from Spain suggesting that they were readying a big-money bid for the summer.

Neymar has previously turned down an approach by Chelsea, stating he wished to remain in Brazil.

Now, Albert Valentine, who is responsible for the coordination of Barcelona’s scouting network in South America, has told Brazilian newspaper Globoesporte that the club are not currently chasing Neymar.

The 19-year-old forward looks set to be in demand when the summer window opens though, regardless of whether Barcelona are amongst the interested parties.

Neymar has said he would like to remain with Santos through 2011, but if large offers begin to arrive then his Brazilian club may have no option but to push him to the exit door.
