Following last night’s crucial 2-0 win over Roma, Napoli star Edinson Cavani explained that his side were not just happy with the three points, but that they now had renewed incentive to push for the Scudetto.

Cavani provided both of Napoli’s goals in Rome, striking first home from the penalty spot after 49 minutes and then adding a second with just seven minutes left. It was an impressive display from the southern Italian side and kept them second in Serie A, just some three points behind league leaders AC Milan.

"It’s a sign that we’re a unified group, which wants to fight for something", Cavani said after the match.

"We deserved the win. The Scudetto? We think we are very happy [to fight for it]. We must go on."

Napoli are emerging as real dark horses in the Serie A title race and their win over Roma seems to have consigned any distant hopes Claudio Ranieri’s side had about barging their way into contention to the dustbin.
