Liverpool’s Danish defender Daniel Agger has closed the door on an exit from Anfield.

The 26-year-old has been the subject of much interest from the continent, with Juventus and Wolfsburg the leading clubs seeking his signature. Indeed, had former boss Roy Hodgson remained at Liverpool, then the Dane could have been sold last month.

Now though Agger is happy at Anfield and reaffirmed his commitment, stating that he was keen to respect the three years remaining on his contract.

"I’ll stay of course", said the Dane. "I still have a three-year contract and I’m happy here."

The news will be a boost to Liverpool and especially boss Kenny Dalglish as he looks to ensure the Reds are involved in European competition once again next season.
