Diego, who has emerged as a summer transfer target for Lazio, has stated that he is happy at Wolfsburg, despite the club suffering a poor season and the player himself struggling to rediscover his best form.

Having moved back to German football – where he turned out with Werder Bremen – last summer from Juventus, Diego stated that he will not run away just because his side find themselves in a difficult position.

Having sacked coach Steve McClaren, Wolfsburg have just 23 points from 22 games and sit outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone, yet Diego maintains he is happy at the Volkswagen Arena.

"I am happy to have joined Wolfsburg", said the Brazilian to Bild

"Last summer I signed a four-year deal that I would like to respect. I am here to help my club, and not to run away in a difficult moment."
