Cristiano Ronaldo congratulated his Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho for making it nine years since he has lost a game at home in league play. Los Blancos beat Levante yesterday, recording a comfortable 2-0 victory to move to within two points of La Liga leaders Barcelona – but the focus was very much on Mourinho.

Having last lost a home league game on 23rd February, 2002, the victory meant that it is now nine years since the Portuguese last suffered a loss at his home stadium in the league.

Taking in his spells with FC Porto (38 games at home without defeat), Chelsea (over 60 games at home without defeat) and Inter (38 games at home without defeat), Mourinho has so far added another 12 league games without defeat at Real Madrid. The Portuguese’s total record over the nine years is 148 matches without defeat, with 123 wins and 25 draws.

And Cristiano Ronaldo was amongst the first to congratulate his coach, stating: "Congratulations to Mourinho to beat an incredible record of not losing at home for nine years. We celebrated with a good win."
