Dirk Kuyt has stated his desire to continue with Liverpool and is confident that a new deal will be signed fairly soon.

The Dutchman has just one year to run on his present deal after the current season is over, but Kuyt is keen to stay on at Anfield and is not looking to leave.

"My contract has one more season to go after this, but there are things happening", Kuyt told the club’s official website.

"We have had some talks and I can only say it looks positive. I feel at home in Liverpool and I don’t want to leave here."

Kuyt was linked with a move away from the Premier League giants last summer, when former manager Rafael Benitez wanted to take the 30-year-old to Inter.

However, Benitez was not backed by the Nerazzurri board and subsequently received the sack, killing stone dead any prospect of a renewed attempt from the Italians to sign Kuyt.
