Bundesliga side Stuttgart are facing a battle to sign highly rated Swiss star Valentin Stocker from Basel. The 21-year-old is believed to be edging closer to agreeing a switch to the German side, but more interested parties have emerged onto the scene.
The left sided midfielder has performed well for Basel this season, as well as making his presence felt in the senior Switzerland national team. The St. Jakob Park-based outfit expect a wave of bids to arrive for Stocker in the summer, meaning Stuttgart have some serious opposition for his signature.
Sides from Serie A lead the way, with Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Udinese all confirmed Stocker fans. Borussia Dortmund, the Bundesliga league leaders, are also monitoring the situation.
With Stuttgart fighting the drop in the German top flight, Stocker could be forgiven for having reservations about moving to a side that might be playing 2.Bundesliga football next season.
